Born in El Salvador and raised in Brisbane, Josue Lopez has worked in some of Brisbane and Europe’s most acclaimed restaurants. Prior to joining Emporium Hotels as Executive Chef, Josue completed a five-year tenure as Executive Chef at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). In 2011, he spent three months working under René Redzepi at Copenhagen’s Noma – repeatedly named the best restaurant in the world.
In November 2014, Josue presented his contemporary Australian cuisine for the leaders’ working dinner at QAGOMA for the Brisbane G20 summit and in 2016 was named CITI Chef of the Year in the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide, which also awarded GOMA Restaurant a prestigious two hats.
