After 10 exceptional years of operation, Brisbane's first boutique luxury hotel, Emporium Hotel Fortitude Valley, will change ownership to Ovolo Hotels from mid-April 2018.
The team are set to focus on the opening of our new flagship Emporium Hotel in South Bank mid this year, beginning an exciting new chapter in iconic design and exquisite service. For now however, it is business as usual as we continue to take bookings.
One of Australia’s largest public art installations nears completion
Sun Veil, one of Australia’s largest art installations, is nearing completion at Southpoint. The $4.35 million kinetic screen by internationally acclaimed environmental artist Ned Kahn was commissioned by private Brisbane developer Anthony John Group to wrap the lower levels of the three towers in its Southpoint development in South Bank.
The design and installation project, measuring more than 3800 square metres, has been in development for roughly 10 years. To date, two of the three kinetic screens have been installed, with the third to wrap the final tower which will comprise residential apartments and the new flagship Emporium Hotel.
highly acclaimed brisbane chef Josue Lopez joins Emporium Hotels
Well known and acclaimed Brisbane based chef Josue (Josh) Lopez has now confirmed his move to join Emporium Hotels as Executive Chef, based at the new flagship Hotel in South Bank, due to open in mid- 2018.
The news comes as Josh concludes a five-year tenure as Executive Chef at GOMA Restaurant, where he was awarded a prestigious two hats by the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide in 2016 and CITI Chef of the Year, as well an Australian Gourmet Traveller Star for 2017 and recently appeared on MasterChef setting a pressure test challenge.

Emporium Hotel has been named winner of the Best Environmental Program at the 2017 Hotel Management Awards.
A major regional award, with entries submitted from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, it is much welcomed recognition following this year’ milestone achievement of EarthCheck Gold Certification and also EarthCheck Design Certification for Emporium Hotel Southpoint, the first hotel in the country to achieve such status.
Emporium Hotel was also Highly Commended in the Boutique Hotel category.

Before it has opened, the new flagship Emporium Hotel Southpoint is drawing an acclaimed line in the sand, having just received EarthCheck Design Certification, the first hotel in the country to achieve such status.
Achieving EarthCheck Design Certification places the new hotel in a unique worldwide group of sustainable buildings that are certified to the internationally recognised EarthCheck Building Planning and Design Standard, with the exclusive EarthCheck science inside.

Community grants program launched
Emporium Hotels is dedicated to supporting our local community. Each year, as part of our Community Grant Program, we donate up to $10,000 worth of prizes to support charities and community groups in their fundraising efforts.
We are now calling for submissions from local groups to be considered. Click below to submit your request for a chance to be allocated one of these prizes.
